Why do we offer a free product?

AI in Ecommerce is moving incredibly fast. We began 2 years ago and the market is already flooded with (good and bad) AI products.

The SaaS-companies before us paved the way, but that didn't scare us. The Ecommerce products in the market didn't fit our needs with a really good product search. 
More importantly, they didn't solve the real problems that Ecommerce businesses face, without loosing lots of visitors.
According to Nosto Ecommerce report february 2023:69% of online shoppers go straight to the search bar.80% leave the search bar, dissatisfied with the on-site search.39% abandon the online store without finding relevant products.

We began this journey in 2018 as creators of an Ecommerce platform

At the time we had 600 e-tailers using and paying for our platform, which was great! But we aimed higher.

We wanted to really help the e-tailers boost their sales. The goal was to find ways to keep visitors on their site (a lot) longer and also encourage more purchases. In a way that's pleasant for the visitors.
It quickly became clear that product search was crucial for an Ecommerce business to grow. We went looking for a vendor that had built a truly intelligent product search. A search engine that helped the end customers to easily find the products they wanted. Preferably as an app that we could "mesh" into our platform. We were hoping for a collaboration and to extend our Ecommerce platform with their product search.
After scouring the market for months and trying a bunch of software "solutions", we were so unsatisfied.The various product searches didn't provide the search results we expected. Not even close. They were not user-friendly and usually offered a poor search experience. Many times we ended up with the message that kills online sales; "Zero products found". And the vendors we spoke to just wouldn’t listen to our feedback.

We thought that there must be other businesses that were experiencing the same thing. That the pricing and features of the "solutions" available for product search to Ecommerce, couldn't be very appealing to many e-tailers.
● The reliability and accountability among the SaaS-vendors just wasn't up to par for a tool that's essential to all Ecommerce websites. What could be more important in an Ecommerce than helping customers find the right products?
● There were so many beneficial and obvious features missing. Such as matching keywords highlighter, thumbnail images on variants, or even displaying stock status and stock quantity. Don't visitors want to know if they can actually buy the product? This made no sense to us.
● There were no intelligent product search apps that easily lets users manage several Ecommerce websites with one login (multi-tenant). At least not that we could find. Most of them were also difficult to install, 1-click should be enough.
● The realization that the cost of paying for intelligent product search is not the biggest barrier for e-tailers. But the fact that the product search doesn't understand what the visitor means. Existing Ecommerce product search solutions also struggled with handling different languages and correcting spelling mistakes.

How could we enter late in a market that's so crowded, and still compete?

We are not:

● First to market.● VC funded.● Based in Silicon Valley.● Our founder didn’t go to Stanford or Harvard.● Our competitors are multi-billion $, publicly traded companies.

We had to think outside the box.

To put it very simply...

To compete we made it our WHY to bring you (our customer, our partner) closer to your end customers. To help you grow your Ecommerce business, and to evolve with you on your entrepreneurial journey.

You made us who and what we are. M:AI has been shaped and meshed, into what you want it to be. And when your customers use M:AI, you are meshed with us. As a result, we hope that forward-thinking business owners like you will use M:AI to get closer to their customers.
There was no way we were going to enter an incredibly competitive and crowded space, just by "building a better mousetrap". That’s why we ignored our competitors, and focused on our customers – a strategy we call "the secret to our success".

When simple things like being available to help our customers get the AI search app installed, became a massive differentiator. Then we knew we were on to something.

What differentiates our business model?

Model 1 - Keeping your current product search

If you keep using your current on-site search instead of an intelligent AI search, you may end up having many dissatisfied visitors (80%). Those visitors probably won't convert into paying customers. 
Statistically, many visitors (39%) will eventually abandon your online store altogether. They'll find another e-tailer with a better product search.

Model 2 - The traditional SaaS model

A traditional SaaS company in Ecommerce is subscription-driven and sell software for ie. $200 / user / month. They usually compete with other SaaS companies for the most features.
If they manage to sell you 1 seat, and keep you subscribed for 12 months, the LVC (Lifetime Value of a Customer) is $2400. So they can’t afford to spend too much time with you over a 12 month period, or their model is unprofitable.

Model 3 - The Mesh Nordic model

A value-driven model like M:AI is where we give you our AI software for free, and as a result may obtained mass adoption.
Should you decide to subscribe to any of our subscription plans (zero pressure to do so), then we'll train the AI search engine for you and your Ecommerce business.

How to calculate which model gives you most profit?

Let's assume you have 50.000 unique visitors per month, and your online revenue is $50.000/mo.
Then each visitor equals $1.

Model 1 - Keeping your current product search50.000 visitors x 69% go straight to the search bar x 39% abandon your store = 13.455 visitors are lost, on average. Probably never to return again. Hence $13.455 / month is lost.
Model 2 - The traditional SaaS modelIf 13.455 visitors are lost, on average, and we assume that the traditional SaaS company manages to rescue 5% of those visitors.13.455 x 5% = 673. Now you loose 13.455 - 673 = 12.782 visitors, which is a bit less.In total $12.782 + $200 for the SaaS software = $12.982 / month is lost.
Model 3 - The Mesh Nordic modelWe don't claim that M:AI will save you thousands of dollars. However we are pretty sure of if.Worst case scenario is that our Hybrid AI product search doesn't save you anything. But then again it's 100% free, so you don't loose anything!
